Registration for the VIII International Baltic Maritime Forum is open

The Forum is organized by the Kaliningrad State Technical University with the support of the Federal Agency for Fisheries and the Government of the Kaliningrad Region.

The International Baltic Maritime Forum is an annual large-scale event in the field of scientific and technical cooperation and education.

The Forum program includes 10 conferences on priority areas for the development of the marine industry with the participation of Russian and foreign scientists, researchers and experts, representatives of leading Russian and European universities, research institutes, government and business, as well as young scientists, graduate students and undergraduates.

The Forum will feature the main scientific and technological trends that determine the development of the modern domestic and world fishing industry. A special role will be given to the discussion of new educational technologies and the improvement of the integrated network education system for marine specialties and the latest trends and challenges in the field of creating interactive distributed laboratories.

The business part of the program includes: plenary session, conferences, seminars, expert sessions, round tables, and an exhibition.

Scientists, graduate students, government and business representatives from Russia and abroad, as well as journalists are invited to participate.

      On October 7, 2019, the VII Baltic Maritime Forum began its work in the assembly hall of KSTU. This is an annual large-scale international scientific and practical event, uniting under its aegis a number of scientific conferences, round tables and workshops on the development of science and education in the marine industry, manufacturing industry, and agriculture of the Baltic region.

      At the opening ceremony, apart from the rector of KSTU V.Volkogon, their welcoming speeches gave Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Education of the Federal Agency for Fishery A. Baranov, Minister of Education of the Kaliningrad Region S.Trusenyova, Minister of Economic Development, Industry and Trade of the Kaliningrad Region D. Kuskov and other special guests.

      The plenary session on “Modern Trends in the Digital Transformation of the Economy and the System of Education” was opened by KSTU rector V.Volkogon. He made a report on the development of the university complex of KSTU. Vice-Rector for Research N.Kostrikova told about the research component and how digital transformation is gaining traction at KSTU. Director of the Center for Advanced Protein Application Technologies of KSTU V. Volkov spoke about the research that is being carried out on the basis of his Center and about the prospects for their implementation in production.

      A separate item of the plenary meeting was the ceremony of announcing the new Honorary Doctor of Kaliningrad State Technical University. It was awarded to a professor of Aegean University (Greece). The newly-made Honorary Doctor made a presentation in English with the topic "Industrial Revolution 4.0".

      A special guest of the Baltic Maritime Forum was Madeleine Granvik, Director of the Baltic University Programme (Sweden). She spoke about the projects implemented by the Baltic University, with active participation of KSTU and BFFSA representatives, as well as further prospects for international cooperation.  

      After the plenary session, the main part of the Forum started. This year, several hundred Russian and foreign scientists, researchers and experts, representatives of more than 40 leading Russian and European universities, research institutes, government and business, as well as young scientists, graduate students and undergraduates take part in it. The Baltic Maritime Forum will host 9 conferences, meetings of the Federal Educational and Methodological Association (FAMA) in the HE system in “Food Technologies and Biotechnology”, a plenary session of the FAMA Scientific and Methodological Board for Fisheries, a round table on advanced transport technologies, and Science Slam.

The Board of Directors of the Baltic University International Programme invites you to take part in the Programme presentation, as well as in the conference organized in the framework of the VII International Baltic Maritime Forum.

Started in 1991 by the University of Uppsala (Sweden), the Baltic University Programme aims at cooperation in education and research between the universities of the Baltic region. Kaliningrad State Technical University has been a member of the Baltic University Programme since 1996. During that period, lecturers, postgraduate and undergraduate students of KSTU and BFFSA have participated in the Programme events. In 2018, our University was chosen to be the National Centre of the Baltic University Programme in Russia, and from July to December 2019 it is holding the presidency in the Programme.

At present, the Programme unites 86 member- universities from Sweden, Finland, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland.  The Programme provides for cooperation between researchers, teachers, postgraduate and undergraduate students.

On 7-8 October 2019, representatives of the universities of Germany, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Slovakia will take part in the Baltic Maritime Forum and will hold workshops on “Climate Change” and “Education for Sustainable Development”, and the conference guests will have an opportunity to build an international interdisciplinary dialogue.
